At the Beginning

by Georgianna Donadio DC, MSc, PhD

Welcome to the Whole Health Living blog!

Over three decades ago, in 1976, I moved to Boston to begin what I then referred to as a "Whole Health Practice". With my newly earned master's degree in nutrition and doctorate degree in chiropractic health care, I was ready to offer what was, at that time, a new perspective - Whole Health Living!

Over the course of the past 35 years, it was my priviledge to establish the National Institute of Whole Health and in the process become a leading educator, researcher and expert on the science of human health and wellness.

Today, I have the honor of serving, along side other health and medical experts from major universities and hospital centers, to re-define how we practice medicine and deliver health care.

In large part, it is about how we re-direct "health care" from treating symptoms and illness to facilitating and educating our entire culture to choose Whole Health Living over creating disease!

This blog is intended to share with the reader different ways of looking at information and approaches to health and wellness that have been extensively written about - but, to look at that same information from a different perspective.

Let's walk around the one-dimensional view of subjects and topics and drill down into the "why" and "how" of things. There are four basic questions any of us want answers to when we visit a health care provider or practitioner:

> are you really listening to me?

> can you explain to me why and how this is happening
to my body?

> do you really care what I know about my health?

> can you explain how I can take control of my problem -
not necessarily "cure" me?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whole Health Living is a philosophy as well as a behavioral choice.

In the upcoming weekly blogs we will explore what motivates us to choose behaviors that increase our sense of wellbeing and enjoyment of life, as opposed to making choices that diminish our vitality, energy, productivity or personal fulfillment.

We will also look at food science, how our body systems work, our brain function and emotions, as well as share receipes, medical research and very importantly - have a few laughs ~

I look forward to sharing this information with you in the upcoming installments.

With all good wishes for your Whole Health Living journey,
Georgianna
